HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 37

A RESOLUTION
To commend Water Wise Gulf South and its founding member Jeffrey Supak.
WHEREAS, Water Wise Gulf South is an environmental awareness organization that
was founded in New Orleans in 2018; its mission is to collaborate with community-based
organizations to advance green infrastructure; together, the organizations work to raise
awareness of environmental issues facing the Gulf South region of the United States; and
WHEREAS, Water Wise Gulf South has grown a network of community advocates,
which they refer to as the "Water Wise Neighborhood Champions"; today, there are one
hundred twenty Water Wise Neighborhood Champions; and
WHEREAS, Water Wise Gulf South installs green infrastructure projects at the
homes of the Water Wise Neighborhood Champions, at small businesses, churches,
community centers, on vacant lots, and in public rights-of-way; and
WHEREAS, Water Wise Gulf South currently serves the New Orleans area, but the
organization is working towards serving the entire Gulf South region; and
WHEREAS, Water Wise Gulf South currently manages one hundred fifty green
infrastructure projects and stores up to fifty-five thousand gallons of rainwater per weather
event; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey Supak is one of the founding members of Water Wise Gulf
South; and
WHEREAS, Water Wise Gulf South and its founding member Jeffrey Supak are
most deserving of recognition for their efforts to help create environmentally-friendly
infrastructure in New Orleans and, eventually, across the Gulf South region.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Water Wise Gulf South and its founding
member Jeffrey Supak; does hereby recognize the organization's and Mr. Supak's efforts to
help preserve the Gulf South ecosystem; and does hereby extend sincere hopes that Water
Wise Gulf South enjoy success in its mission to raise awareness on the importance of green
infrastructure.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
executive director of Water Wise Gulf South.
