ENROLLED 2021 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 52 BY REPRESENTATIVE DUPLESSIS A RESOLUTION To commend Volunteers of America for its contributions to Louisiana on the occasion of its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary. WHEREAS, Volunteers of America has served the needs of our nation's most vulnerable people since 1896; and WHEREAS, Volunteers of America maintained its national headquarters in Louisiana for over twenty years; and WHEREAS, for one hundred twenty-five years, Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana has provided services that support and empower more than fifty thousand vulnerable people, including youth, older adults, people with disabilities, people who struggle with substance abuse disorders, and people recently released from prison; and WHEREAS, for the past one hundred years, Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge has provided services that promote self-reliance, dignity, and hope to more than twenty thousand people, including abused and neglected children, at-risk youth and their families, older adults, veterans, people with chronic illness or developmental disabilities, and many more; and WHEREAS, Volunteers of America North Louisiana, which was founded in Shreveport, has provided life-changing services to more than six thousand three hundred people over the last eighty-six years; and WHEREAS, Volunteers of America is celebrating the organization's one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary this year, and it is most deserving of recognition for its impact on the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Volunteers of America for its contributions to Louisiana on the occasion of its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary and does hereby Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 52 ENROLLED extend sincere hopes that Volunteers of America continue to successfully serve our most vulnerable residents with dedication, perseverance, and hope. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the president of Volunteers of America and the president of each of its Louisiana affiliates.
