HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 76
BY REPRESENTATIVES WILLARD AND FRIEMAN
A RESOLUTION
To commend Brother Martin High School on winning the 2021 Louisiana high school rugby
state championship.
WHEREAS, the Brother Martin Crusaders captured the state rugby championship
by defeating St. Paul's 33-19 at their match in Metairie; and
WHEREAS, the Crusaders opened the game's scoring and led 12-7 at halftime; the
score was deadlocked at 19-19 late in the game, but the Crusaders eventually pulled away
with two late, unanswered scores; and
WHEREAS, Brother Martin High School celebrates its first state rugby
championship since 2002; Jacob Schmidt was named Man of the Match in Brother Martin's
championship victory; and
WHEREAS, Brother Martin High School is most deserving of recognition for
capturing its first rugby state title in nearly two decades.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Brother Martin High School on winning the
2021 Louisiana high school rugby state championship and does hereby extend sincere hopes
for the continued success of the Brother Martin High School rugby program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of Brother Martin High School.
