HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 80
BY REPRESENTATIVE WILLARD
A RESOLUTION
To commend Katie McMillon Neason on the occasion of her eighty-first birthday.
WHEREAS, Ms. Neason has served as a community activist for the city of New
Orleans for over fifty years on issues related to education, nutrition, and early childhood
development; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Neason's civic involvement includes tenures as president of the
Louisiana Title I program and the state and national Title II programs; she worked with
former Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson, and as a drug counselor; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Neason worked for many years as a civil rights activist and a
political activist; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Neason is a member of Pentecost Baptist Church in New Orleans
and served as co-pastor with her husband; and
WHEREAS, Katie McMillon Neason is a genuine servant of her community; her
commitment to advocating for sociopolitical issues in the state and nationally is most
deserving of recognition.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Katie McMillon Neason on the occasion of
her eighty-first birthday; does hereby recognize her many decades of service to the city of
New Orleans and the state of Louisiana; and does hereby extend sincere hopes that she enjoy
a wonderful birthday.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Katie
McMillon Neason.
