1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 22:887(J), relative to cancellation and reinstatement by an insurer; to require
3 notice of reinstatement to be issued to interested persons; to provide for an effective
4 date; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 22:887(J) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง887. Cancellation by insurer; changes to homeowner's insurance policies
8 * * *
9 J. Any insurer that issues notice of cancellation on an insurance policy
10 that provides casualty coverage and later continues or reinstates that insurance
11 policy shall issue notice of reinstatement to every policyholder, insurance
12 producer, or other known person shown by the policy to have an interest in any
13 loss which may occur under the policy and who received the notice of
14 cancellation issued by the insurer.
15 Section 2. This Act shall become effective on January 1, 2022.
