SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 14
BY SENATORS MILLIGAN AND PEACOCK AND REPRESENTATIVES BAGLEY
AND SEABAUGH 
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers on winning the 2020 Division IV state
football championship.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that news of Calvary Baptist Academy of
Shreveport, Louisiana, winning the state football championship in the 2020 Allstate Sugar
Bowl/LHSAA Non-Select Prep Classic-Division IV tournament has been learned; and
WHEREAS, the Calvary Baptist Academy football team completed an outstanding
season in 2020 performing at high levels of excellence throughout the playoffs, defeating
St. Martin Episcopal 45-7, Catholic of Pointe Coupee 48-16, and Southern Lab 24-14, to
qualify for the state championship game in Harry Turpin Stadium at Northwestern State
University in Natchitoches; and
WHEREAS, prior to traveling to Natchitoches, the team participated in a
walk-through, a school pep rally, and home basketball game; and
WHEREAS, the Cavaliers defeated Ouachita Christian with a final score of 62-41
in the championship game as the two teams set new Division IV records collectively scoring
103 points and gaining 1,036 yards; and
WHEREAS, junior quarterback Landry Lyddy passed for 464 yards, an LHSAA
all-time championship mark, and finished the season with over 3,500 yards passing and 43
touchdowns; and
WHEREAS, the Cavaliers posted an overall record of nine wins and two losses and
everyone contributed to the overall success of the team; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Rodney Guin and the assistant coaches instilled in these
players the leadership and motivational skills needed to achieve great success both on and
off the football field; and

WHEREAS, through its display of good sportsmanship, hard work, and outstanding
play on and off the field, the Calvary Baptist Academy football team brings a commanding
sense of honor and immense pride to their school, their city, and the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby
commends and congratulates the members and coaches of the Calvary Baptist Academy
Cavaliers football team for winning the 2020 Division IV state football championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
coaches and staff of the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers football team.
