SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 17
BY SENATOR MILLIGAN AND REPRESENTATI VE SEABAUGH
COMMENDATIONS. Commends and congratulates the Captain Shreve girls basketball
team on their recent recognition as 2021 LHSAA state champions.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend and congratulate the Captain Shreve High School girls basketball team on their
3 recent recognition for winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class
4 5A, District I state championship.
5 WHEREAS, the Captain Shreve High School girls basketball team, called the Lady
6 Gators, defeated Benton High School in a hard fought game with a final score of fifty to
7 thirty-nine at the Southeastern Louisiana Center in Hammond; and
8 WHEREAS, with this recent victory, the Lady Gators have earned their second state
9 championship in three seasons under the leadership of Head Coach Keith Greene, and
10 assistant coaches Thaddeus Houston and Morgan Williams; and
11 WHEREAS, the talented Lady Gators team consisted of seven juniors: Madison
12 Davis, Chaela Ficklin, Desiree' Hudson, Zoe Manning, Kyra Stokes, Ashby Tyndall, and
13 Makayla Whitaker; and a trio of seniors stars: Kiarya Ellis, Addison Martin, and Jordan
14 McLemore; and
15 WHEREAS, Head Coach Keith Greene said, "The team playing to their inside
16 strengths was their winning moves" which merits recognition and congratulations for the
17 team's performance and competitive spirit throughout the season and the tournament; and
18 WHEREAS, Captain Shreve High School girls basketball team is recognized for the

1 well deserved accolades earned throughout the season and showcasing their extraordinary
2 athletic abilities, particularly at the most challenging level of high school competition.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
4 express its sincere congratulations to Captain Shreve High School girls basketball team on
5 winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A, District I state
6 championship.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Head
8 Coach Keith Greene and Principal Ginger Gustavson of Captain Shreve High School.
