2021 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 17 BY SENATORS MILLIGAN AND PEACOCK AND REPRESENTATIVE SEABAUGH A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend and congratulate the Captain Shreve High School girls basketball team on their recent recognition for winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A, District I state championship. WHEREAS, the Captain Shreve High School girls basketball team, called the Lady Gators, defeated Benton High School in a hard fought game with a final score of fifty to thirty-nine at the Southeastern Louisiana Center in Hammond; and WHEREAS, with this recent victory, the Lady Gators have earned their second state championship in three seasons under the leadership of Head Coach Keith Greene, and assistant coaches Thaddeus Houston and Morgan Williams; and WHEREAS, the talented Lady Gators team consisted of seven juniors: Madison Davis, Chaela Ficklin, Desiree' Hudson, Zoe Manning, Kyra Stokes, Ashby Tyndall, and Makayla Whitaker; and a trio of seniors stars: Kiarya Ellis, Addison Martin, and Jordan McLemore; and WHEREAS, Head Coach Keith Greene said, "The team playing to their inside strengths was their winning moves" which merits recognition and congratulations for the team's performance and competitive spirit throughout the season and the tournament; and WHEREAS, Captain Shreve High School girls basketball team is recognized for the well deserved accolades earned throughout the season and showcasing their extraordinary athletic abilities, particularly at the most challenging level of high school competition. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its sincere congratulations to Captain Shreve High School girls basketball team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A, District I state championship.
