SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 101

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Robert Showers for his loyal and dedicated service with the
Department of Health, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, upon his
retirement.
WHEREAS, Robert Showers served at the Department of Health and Hospitals North
Lake Supports and Services Center for over five years, the Department of Health and
Hospitals Gary W. Project Office for over four years, the Department of Health and
Hospitals Bureau of Protective Services for over seven years, the Department of Health and
Hospitals Office of Primary Health for two years, and Department of Health Office for
Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (OCDD) for over eighteen years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Showers provided effective and efficient services to the
developmental disabilities population and made a lasting contribution at OCDD by
interacting with providers, local governing entities, support coordinators, and Department
of Health program offices, as well as his colleagues, serving as an information source and
a friend to them throughout his career; and
WHEREAS, Robert Showers is an extraordinary, hardworking, dutiful, and loving
husband, father and grandfather; and
WHEREAS, he is a faithful member of the Greater Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist
Church, Hammond, Louisiana, and President of the Dr. Lavanner Showers Brown
Scholarship Fund; and
WHEREAS, during his time at OCDD, Robert Showers displayed exemplary pride
in every phase of his job and, as a result, he was respected for his professionalism, wisdom,
and knowledge; and
WHEREAS, his professionalism and willingness to assist others will be missed by
the developmental disability community, staff, and friends; his service with OCDD was
laudable and worthy of special notice.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Robert Showers for his loyal and dedicated service
with the Department of Health, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, express
appreciation to Robert Showers for his loyal and dedicated service, and extend best wishes
upon his retirement, and for continued success in his life's pursuits.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Robert Showers.
