SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 79

CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences upon the death of Earl Philson.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
3 death of Earl Philson.
4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
5 Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Earl Philson on May
6 4, 2021, at the age of ninety-five; and
7 WHEREAS, Earl Philson was born on January 2, 1926; and
8 WHEREAS, he is survived by his daughter, Vernita P. Riley; brother, James Philson;
9 and grandchildren, Elysia Douglas (Timothy), James Riley (Janecka), and Vernita Winding
10 (Terrance); and
11 WHEREAS, he was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and brother; and
12 WHEREAS, the death of Earl Philson has left a substantial void in his community
13 and a sense of loss in those lives he touched, and his memory shall live forever in the minds
14 and hearts of all those who knew him.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
16 does hereby extend sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Earl Philson upon the
17 occasion of his death.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
