1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact Item (g)(4)(b) of Paragraph 22 of Article XIV, Section 15.1 of the
3 1921 Constitution of Louisiana, as amended, continued as a statute pursuant to
4 Article X, Section 18 of the 1974 Constitution of Louisiana, and R.S.
5 33:2492(7)(d)(ii) and to repeal R.S. 33:2552(7)(d)(ii), relative to the municipal fire
6 and police civil service; to provide relative to the administration of tests by the state
7 examiner; to make certain provisions applicable only to the city of Shreveport; and
8 to provide for related matters.
9 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
10 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
11 Louisiana.
12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
13 Section 1. Item (g)(4)(b) of Paragraph 22 of Article XIV, Section 15.1 of the 1921
14 Constitution of Louisiana, continued as a statute pursuant to the provisions of Article X,
15 Section 18 of the 1974 Constitution of Louisiana is hereby amended and reenacted to read
16 as follows:
17 §15.1. Fire and police civil service; municipalities of 13,000 to 250,000

1 22. Tests. Tests to determine the eligibility of applicants for entry upon the
2 promotional and competitive employment lists shall be provided, as follows:

4 g. Competitive tests shall be held only as the needs of the service require and
5 shall be given for classes comprising only the following duties or positions:

9 (b) Notwithstanding Item (a) of this Subsubparagraph (4), for a municipality
10 having a population between 198,000 and 200,000 according to the most recent
11 decennial census the city of Shreveport, operations, management, and supervision
12 of radio, fire alarm, police alarm, and other signal systems.

14 Section 2. R.S. 33:2492(7)(d)(ii) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as
15 follows:
16 §2492. Tests
17 Tests to determine the eligibility of applicants for entry upon the promotional
18 and competitive employment lists shall be provided, as follows:

20 (7) Competitive tests shall be held only as the needs of the service require

25 (ii) Notwithstanding Item (i) of this Subparagraph, for a municipality having
26 a population between one hundred ninety-eight thousand and two hundred thousand
27 according to the most recent decennial census the city of Shreveport, operations,

4 Section 3. R.S. 33:2552(7)(d)(ii) is hereby repealed in its entirety.
