HOUSE BILL NO. 284
BY REPRESENTATIVE STAGNI
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 37:1339(B)(1), relative to boards and commissions; to provide
3 for membership of the governing board of the Louisiana Emergency Response
4 Network; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 37:1339(B)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง1339.  Advisory Committee on Perfusion; creation
8	*          *          *
9	B.(1)  The committee shall be composed of a total of seven persons,
10 including four persons who hold an active license to engage in the practice of
11 perfusion in this state, and are appointed by the governor from a list of names
12 submitted by the Louisiana Perfusion Society, or from the general perfusion
13 community should the Louisiana Perfusion Society disband, and two physicians who
14 are actively engaged in the practice of cardiothoracic surgery, appointed by the
15 governor from a list of names submitted by the Louisiana Society of Thoracic
16 Surgeons and one representative from a hospital with an active open heart program
17 appointed by the governor from a list of names submitted by the Louisiana Hospital
18 Association and the Metropolitan Hospital Council of New Orleans.  The initial
19 perfusionist appointees who would otherwise be required to be licensed perfusionists

1 shall instead be individuals who have been practicing perfusion for at least five years
2 and who are eligible under pursuant to this Part for licensure as a perfusionist.
