ENROLLED ACT No. 383 2022 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 345 BY REPRESENTATIVE ORGERON 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 17:426(A), relative to toll exemptions for certain school 3 personnel; to provide an exemption from tolls on the Louisiana Highway 1 Bridge 4 for teachers, school bus operators, and other school employees; to provide for 5 effectiveness; and to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 17:426(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8 ยง426. Free and unhampered passage on the Louisiana Highway 1 Bridge; teachers, 9 school bus drivers operators, and other school employees 10 A. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, every teacher, 11 school bus driver operator, and other school employee employed by Grand Isle 12 School System under the jurisdiction of the Lafourche Jefferson Parish School Board 13 shall have free and unhampered passage crossing the Louisiana Highway 1 Bridge, 14 also known as the Tomey J. Doucet Bridge, when traveling to and from their 15 workplace on a scheduled work day, as prescribed by the school board, not to exceed 16 two toll-free crossings in one day. 17 * * * 18 Section 2. The provisions of Section 1 of this Act shall supersede the provisions of 19 Section 2 of Act No. 392 of the 2021 Regular Session of the Legislature that amend and 20 reenact R.S. 17:426(A). 21 Section 3.(A) Section 1 of this Act shall become effective when Section 2 of Act No. 22 392 of the 2021 Regular Session of the Legislature becomes effective.
