Abstract: Provides relative to electronic voter registration.
Present law provides for electronic voter registration on the secretary of state's website.  Requires
that a person have an La. driver's license or special identification card to register electronically.
Present law provides that the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, shall
issue an identification card that is compliant with federal law known as the REAL ID Act.  Requires
that a person meet requirements of the U.S. Dept of Homeland Security to receive a REAL ID.
Proposed law requires that a person have a REAL ID, rather than a driver's license, in order to
register to vote electronically.  Otherwise retains present law.
