HOUSE BILL NO. 777

1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:2476.6, relative to the municipal fire and police civil service
3 board in certain municipalities; to provide relative to the office of board secretary;
4 to provide relative to the salary and benefits of the secretary; and to provide for
5 related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 33:2476.6 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
8 ยง2476.6.  Municipal fire and police civil service boards in certain municipalities;
9	board secretary
10	A.  Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 33:2476(L)(1), a in any
11 municipality having a population in excess of one hundred fifty thousand but not
12 more than two hundred ten thousand persons, based on the latest federal decennial
13 census, the board may fill the office of secretary for the municipal fire and police
14 civil service board by employing any other person on a full-time basis with a rate of
15 salary and benefits equivalent to like administrative personnel of the municipality,
16 as determined by the municipality on a full-time basis any person whom the board
17 deems qualified.  The secretary shall receive compensation and benefits within a
18 salary range comparable to that established for classified personnel employed in
19 similar administrative positions by the respective municipality.  The secretary is
20 solely accountable to the board and shall serve at the pleasure of the board.
