HOUSE BILL NO. 948

HIGHER EDUCATION: Provides relative to the Louisiana State University and University
of Louisiana systems
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 17:3215 and 3217, relative to institutions under the supervision
3 and management of the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and
4 Agricultural and Mechanical College and the Board of Supervisors for the University
5 of Louisiana System; to provide for transfers of certain institutions; and to provide
6 for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 17:3215 and 3217 are hereby amended and reenacted to read as
9follows:
10 §3215. Louisiana State University system
11 The Louisiana State University system is composed of the institutions under
12 the supervision and management of the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State
13 University and Agricultural and Mechanical College as follows:
14 (1) Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College,
15 located at Baton Rouge and designated as the premier flagship university for the
16 state.
17 (3) (2) Louisiana State University at Alexandria, located at Chambers.
18 (4) (3) Louisiana State University at Eunice.
19 (5) (4) Louisiana State University at Shreveport.

1 (6) (5) Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at New Orleans,
2 which shall include medical and related health schools and programs located in New
3 Orleans including those state's medical centers transferred to the Board of
4 Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College
5 as provided in Subpart C-2 of Part II of Chapter 4 of this Title, subject to provisions
6 of R.S. 17:1519 et seq.
7 (7) (6) Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at Shreveport,
8 which shall include the medical school and related schools at Shreveport, Louisiana
9 State University Hospital at Shreveport, E.A. Conway Medical Center at Monroe,
10 and Huey P. Long Medical Center in Pineville.
11 (8) (7) The Center for Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development which
12 administers the agricultural extension and research programs of the board throughout
13 the state. The center shall also be responsible for conducting river water research.
14 (9) (8) Any other college, university, school, institution, or program now or
15 hereafter under the supervision and management of the Board of Supervisors of
16 Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College.

18 §3217. University of Louisiana System
19 The University of Louisiana System is composed of the institutions under the
20 supervision and management of the Board of Supervisors for the University of
21 Louisiana System as follows:
22 (1) Grambling State University at in Grambling.
23 (2) Louisiana Tech University at in Ruston.
24 (3) McNeese State University at in Lake Charles.
25 (4) Nicholls State University at in Thibodaux.
26 (5) Northwestern State University of Louisiana at in Natchitoches.
27 (6) Southeastern Louisiana University at in Hammond.
28 (7) The University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
29 (8) The University of Louisiana at Monroe.

1 (9) The University of New Orleans.
2 (10) Any other college, university, school, institution, or program now or
