HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 133
BY REPRESENTATIVE EMERSON AND SENATOR B OUDREAUX
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Glenn Brasseaux, on the occasion of his retirement, for nineteen years of
service as mayor of Carencro.
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize Glenn Brasseaux for dedicating nineteen
years as mayor of the city of Carencro and to commend him on the occasion of his
retirement; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brasseaux answered the call to public service as a sophomore at
Carencro High School in 1965; he joined the Carencro Volunteer Fire Department where he
remained as a volunteer for thirty years; he even served as the department's fire chief for six
years before leaving in 1995; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brasseaux was also a longtime member of the Carencro city
council; he was first elected to serve as a councilman in 1978, and he served six terms over
the next twenty-four years; and
WHEREAS, after many years of unfaltering and dedicated public service to the city
of Carencro, Mr. Brasseaux was elected to serve as mayor; he began his tenure on January 1,
2003, and has continued to serve the city in this capacity for the last nineteen years; he is the
longest-serving mayor in Lafayette Parish and the second-longest serving mayor in
Acadiana; and
WHEREAS, upon retiring, Mr. Brasseaux will have given a total of forty-four years
of civil service to the city of Carencro; he is a truly inspiring individual who is most
deserving of the highest recognition for his incredible dedication to his community and the
state of Louisiana.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Glenn Brasseaux, on the occasion of his retirement, for nineteen years of service
as mayor of Carencro and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he enjoy good health and
prosperity as he ventures into a well-earned life in retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Glenn Brasseaux.
