ENROLLED 2022 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 36 BY REPRESENTATIVE DUSTIN MILLER A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To continue and provide with respect to the Healthcare Workplace Violence Task Force created by House Concurrent Resolution No. 121 of the 2021 Regular Session of the Legislature. WHEREAS, through House Concurrent Resolution No. 121 of the 2021 Regular Session (HCR 121), the legislature formed a task force to identify and study policy options and practices through which the problem of workplace violence in healthcare settings can be properly addressed, mitigated, and, wherever possible, prevented; and WHEREAS, the task force is composed of members who, individually and collectively, possess significant expertise in health services delivery, public health policy, and public safety; and WHEREAS, the task force has performed valuable work and has faithfully carried out the duties prescribed in HCR 121; and WHEREAS, many of the findings and recommendations that the task force submitted to the legislature in response to HCR 121 are embodied in House Bill No. 312 of this 2022 Regular Session (HB 312); and WHEREAS, regardless of whether the reforms proposed in HB 312 are enacted into law, this state will benefit significantly from a continuation of efforts by the task force to advance policies and promote practices to ensure that the healthcare workers of our state, who are indispensable to the well-being of our families and communities, can practice their professions in the quality work environments they deserve and without fear for their personal safety. Page 1 of 2 HCR NO. 36 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby continue the Healthcare Workplace Violence Task Force created by House Concurrent Resolution No. 121 of the 2021 Regular Session. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the membership and purposes of the task force shall continue as provided in House Concurrent Resolution No. 121 of the 2021 Regular Session. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the task force shall submit a report of its activities, findings, and recommendations to the House Committee on Health and Welfare, the Senate Committee on Health and Welfare, and the David R. Poynter Legislative Research Library no later than sixty days prior to the convening of the 2023 Regular Session of the Legislature. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that legislative authority for the task force shall terminate on July 1, 2023. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health, the secretary of the Department of Children and Family Services, the executive director of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, the executive director of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, the president of the Louisiana State Nurses Association, the president of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, the chairman of the Louisiana Organization for Nursing Leadership, the president of the Louisiana Hospital Association, the chairman of the Nursing Supply and Demand Council, the executive director of the Louisiana State Medical Society, the president of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the executive director of the Louisiana Chiefs of Police Association, the president of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association, and the chief justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court.
