HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 56
BY REPRESENTATIVE ECHOLS
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, the Monroe Regional Airport,
and the Aviation Hall of Fame and to commend the museum for its role in
memorializing Louisiana's aviation history.
WHEREAS, Louisiana has an abundant aeronautical history, and this history is the
basis of economic enhancement, business creation, and the distribution of aviation products
to national and international markets; and
WHEREAS, aviation is a multibillion dollar industry in the United States and at a
worldwide level, and aviation products and aeronautics training that originate in Monroe are
still being utilized around the world; and
WHEREAS, the aeronautical industry also profoundly impacts continental and global
travel for millions of people daily and involves companies created in Monroe and techniques
and training that originated in Selman Field, which is now the Monroe Regional Airport; and
WHEREAS, aviation in the state of Louisiana has changed the way Louisianians live,
travel, and protect themselves; and
WHEREAS, the technique and dedication to aviation, the people who excel at the
art of aviation, such as war heroes, and the general practice of aviation/avionics stimulates
commerce and economic growth in the state of Louisiana and contributes to the economic
well-being of Louisiana citizens and farmers that work and perform in these industries; and
WHEREAS, efforts to preserve aviation and aviation history of Louisiana are, and
have been, promoted by the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum by use of public
events, by dissemination of information, and by use of digital and internet technology to
extend this information to all people worldwide; and

WHEREAS, the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum continues to educate the
world about the aviation, military, and aeronautical aspects of Louisiana history in support
of Louisiana's aviation and aviation-related industries and the Louisiana citizens who work
and perform in these industries; and
WHEREAS, preservation of, and education about, Louisiana's aviation history is
necessary to educate the public about how this history has left a profound mark on the world;
and
WHEREAS, the legislature is proud to honor and recognize the Chennault Aviation
and Military Museum which continues to  serve the citizens of the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, the Monroe Regional Airport, and the
Aviation Hall of Fame for their outstanding work and does hereby commend the museum
for its role in memorializing Louisiana's aviation history.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
governor of Louisiana, the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, and the Monroe
Regional Airport.
