Dept. of Health to explore ways to procure services related to Medicaid Management Information Systems that will reduce administrative costs, lower the chance of federal penalties, and secure high-quality contractors 1 A RESOLUTION 2To urge and request the Louisiana Department of Health to explore ways to procure services 3 related to Medicaid Management Information Systems that will reduce 4 administrative costs, lower the chance of federal penalties, and secure high-quality 5 contractors. 6 WHEREAS, the contracts related to the state's Medicaid Program are some of the 7largest in state government; and 8 WHEREAS, these contracts facilitate the provision of vital services to nearly two 9million Louisiana citizens as of March 2022; and 10 WHEREAS, federal programs have high standards for compliance and are 11notoriously difficult to navigate due to extensive and complicated regulations; and 12 WHEREAS, not all contractors willing to undertake the task are equally capable of 13administering such a complex program; and 14 WHEREAS, the state relies on the accuracy of these systems to ensure proper 15payments are made and to minimize fraud in the Medicaid program; and 16 WHEREAS, finding high-quality contractors to provide these services is critical for 17such a vital program that encompasses such a large portion of the state budget; and 18 WHEREAS, it would be beneficial for the state to explore ways to lower 19administrative costs of the Medicaid Program while simultaneously obtaining high-quality Page 1 of 2 HLS 22RS-2662 ORIGINAL HR NO. 108 1contractors who can provide services and successfully navigate the complexities of the 2accompanying federal laws and regulations. 3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Louisiana Department of Health 5to explore ways to procure services related to Medicaid Management Information Systems 6that will reduce administrative costs, lower the chance of federal penalties, and secure 7high-quality contractors. 8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 9secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health.
