HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 51

A RESOLUTION
To commend the 2022 Sicilian Heritage Festival in Independence, Louisiana, and its royal
court on the occasion of the festival's fourteenth anniversary.
WHEREAS, the Sicilian Heritage Festival celebrates the beautiful and rich Sicilian
history that is prominent in the Tangipahoa Parish town of Independence; and
WHEREAS, the Sicilian Heritage Festival is held annually in downtown
Independence; and
WHEREAS, this year's festival honors the 2022 royal court members King Larry
Cardaronella, Queen Faith Liuzza, Madre Brenda Liuzza, and Grand Marshal Dominic
Orlando; and
WHEREAS, features of the Sicilian Heritage Festival include the Italian Heritage
Cultural Museum, street dancing, live entertainment, a parade, a spaghetti cook-off, and a
meatball toss competition; and
WHEREAS, the Sicilian Heritage Festival is a cherished local event that honors the
cultural influence of Louisiana's Sicilian communities and is most worthy of recognition.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the 2022 Sicilian Heritage Festival in
Independence, Louisiana, and its royal court on the occasion of the festival's fourteenth
anniversary; does hereby recognize the festival's royal court for serving honorably as
representatives of the Sicilian community in Independence; and does hereby express great
pride in the town's honoring of its Sicilian heritage.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
chairman of the 2022 Executive Board for the Independence Sicilian Heritage Festival.
