SENATE BILL NO. 181

1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 2:809 and to enact R.S. 2:801(6), relative to DOTD and the
3 definition of an airport sponsor; to provide for the approval, inspection, and
4 certification of airport construction projects; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 2:809 is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 2:801(6) is hereby
7 enacted to read as follows:
8 §801.  Definitions

10	(6) "Sponsor" means any state agency, city, town, parish, airport
11 authority, or other political subdivision which owns, leases, or controls any
12 airport, landing field, landing strip, seaplane base, helipad, or aid to air
13 navigation.

15 §809.  Inspection
16	A.  The department shall may approve the engineering and construction plans
17 for any proposed projects that are prepared by consultant or contract engineers for
18 any recipient airport authority. The department may inspect the construction of a
19 project at any time to assure project compliance.
20	B.  The department shall may inspect a complete project with the consultant
21 or contract engineer. The engineer sponsor shall certify that construction is in
22 accordance with plans and specifications. The department may inspect a completed
23 project at any time to assure that the project is being maintained in accordance with
24 project specifications and agreements.

1 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
2 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
3 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
4 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
5 effective on the day following such approval.
