VOTERS/VOTING. Constitutional amendment to ensure the right to free and equal

1 A JOINT RESOLUTION
2 Proposing to add Article I, Section 10.2 of the Constitution of Louisiana, relative to
3 elections; to provide for free and equal elections; and to specify an election for
4 submission of the proposition to electors and provide a ballot proposition.
5 Section 1. Be it resolved by the Legislature of Louisiana, two-thirds of the members
6 elected to each house concurring, that there shall be submitted to the electors of the state, for
7 their approval or rejection in the manner provided by law, a proposal to add Article I,
8 Section 10.2 of the Constitution of Louisiana, to read as follows:
9 ยง10.2. Freedom of Elections
10 All elections shall be free and equal; and no power, civil or military, shall
11 at any time interfere with or prevent the free exercise of the right of suffrage.
12 Section 2. Be it further resolved that this proposed amendment shall be submitted
13 to the electors of the state of Louisiana at the statewide election to be held on November 8,
14 2022.
15 Section 3. Be it further resolved that on the official ballot to be used at said election
16 there shall be printed a proposition, upon which the electors of the state shall be permitted
17 to vote YES or NO, to amend the Constitution of Louisiana, which proposition shall read as

2 Do you support an amendment to ensure that all elections are free and equal
3 and that no power, civil or military, shall interfere with or prevent the
4 exercise of the right of suffrage?
