SENATE BILL NO. 207
BY SENATOR LUNEAU 
MOTOR VEHICLES.  Allows for the conversion of a certificate of destruction (COD) into
a salvage certificate title. (8/1/22)
1	AN ACT
2 To repeal R.S. 32:707.3(C) relative to certificates of destruction; and to provide for related
3 matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 32:707.3(C) is hereby repealed.

Present law prohibits a motor vehicle that has been issued a certificate of destruction from
being issued a salvage or reconstructed title.
Present law further prohibits a motor vehicle that has been issued a certificate of destruction
from being titled or registered by the office of motor vehicles for use on the roads or
highways of this state.
Present law further prohibits a motor vehicle that has been issued a certificate of destruction
from being resold as a retail unit; but shall only be dismantled, sold for any usable parts, or
crushed.
Proposed law repeals present law.
Effective August 1, 2022.
