SENATE BILL NO. 313

1	AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 33:441(D), relative to Mayor's court; to provide relative to training
3 requirements for mayors and magistrates; to provide relative to verification of
4 training; to provide relative to continuing education; and to provide for related
5 matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 33:441(D) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8	SUBPART G. MUNICIPAL COURTS
9 ยง441. Mayor's court

11	D. Every mayor or magistrate presiding over a mayor's court pursuant
12 to this Subpart shall be required to receive training within ninety days of
13 assuming status as presiding authority, either online or in-person, which
14 training shall be provided by the Louisiana Supreme Court. This training shall
15 include ethics and training on judicial and legal procedures related to mayor's
16 courts. The Legislative Auditor shall verify attendance at this training and assist
17 the Supreme Court in providing this training. Following the initial training
18 requirements, presiding mayors and magistrates shall receive, each year,
19 continuing education as prescribed by the Louisiana Supreme Court.
