CRIMINAL RECORDS.  Repeals fees related to obtaining an expungement order. (8/1/22)
1	AN ACT
2 To repeal Code of Criminal Procedure Arts. 983 and 984(c), relative to criminal
3 expungement; to repeal fees related to obtaining an expungement order; and to
4 provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. Code of Criminal Procedure Arts. 983 and 984(c) are hereby repealed.

Present law requires that the total cost to obtain a court order expunging a record not exceed
$550.
Present law provides that an additional $50 court cost be paid to the Dept. of Public Safety
and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, for the costs of storage and retrieval of the records.
Proposed law repeals fees provided for in present law related to obtaining an expungement
order.
Effective August 1, 2022.
