SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 17

COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the LSU Tiger Girls for winning the Division 1A Hip
Hop competition at the 2022 Universal Dance Association College Nationals.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend the LSU Tiger Girls Dance Team on capturing top honors in the Division 1A
3 Hip Hop competition on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
4 WHEREAS, the LSU Tiger Girls, the official dance team of Louisiana Sate
5 University, is entering its twenty-fifth season of performing on the sidelines at football and
6 basketball games, and some gymnastics meets; and 
7 WHEREAS, the Tiger Girls have competed in the Division 1A jazz and hip hop
8 categories at the Universal Dance Association College Nationals for more than twenty-three
9 years and have placed in the top ten since 2005, winning the Hip Hop national competition
10 in 2010; and
11 WHEREAS, the Tiger Girls are led by spirit director, Pauline Zernott; head coach,
12 Kandace Hale; and assistant coach, Payton Ibos; and 
13 WHEREAS, the following dynamic ladies are members of the 2021-22 LSU Tiger
14 Girls Dance Team: Lily Dodge, Chloe Tourelle, Brielle Poche, Londyn Daniel, Caliea
15 Koehler, McKenna Dickson, Samantha Colombi, Darah Haidet, Thomia Garner, Aubree
16 Lavergne (captain), Ariel Brumfield (captain), Sara Gutz, Jessica Mirabal, Jillian Miller,
17 Arianna Belmonte, Sanai Frierson, Courtney Maldonado, Chloe Couvillion, Joi Kuzma, and
18 Isabella Avila; and

1 WHEREAS, because the LSU Tiger Girls were not allowed to travel to the national
2 competition last year, this year's award-winning performance, choreographed by Carson
3 Rowe and Sammy McFadden, solidifies the team's return to dominance and boldly reminds
4 viewers that female athletes will continue to exceed set standards; and 
5 WHEREAS, the Tiger Girls' performance, set to the hit song "Like a Boy" as
6 originally performed by grammy-award winning singer and songwriter, Ciara, earned the
7 team a nearly perfect score and the top spot in the Division 1A Hip Hop competition at the
8 2022 Universal Dance Association College Nationals; and
9 WHEREAS, the LSU Tiger Girls Dance Team is most deserving of recognition
10 following the example of hard work, dedication, and commitment shown by the coaches and
11 members.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
13 commend the director, coaches, and members of the LSU Tiger Girls Dance Team on
14 winning the Division 1A Hip Hop competition at the 2022 Universal Dance Association
15 College Nationals. 
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
17 LSU Tiger Girls Dance Team.
