2022 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 111 BY SENATOR POPE A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Tasmin Olajuwon Mitchell on his induction into the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame. WHEREAS, Tasmin Olajuwon Mitchell, while born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on June 25, 1985, grew up in Denham Springs, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, while attending Denham Springs High School, Tasmin was named first-team All-State for four years, first-team Parade All-American, McDonald's All- American after his senior season in 2005, Livingston Parish MVP, and the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year in 2005; and WHEREAS, Tasmin averaged 26.9 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists as a senior at Denham Springs High School; and WHEREAS, recruited to play basketball by Louisiana State University, Tasmin had an outstanding career at LSU while a freshman, he was part of the NCAA Final Four team in 2006, on two SEC Championship teams in 2006 and 2009, and remains the third all-time in scoring at 1,989 points for 137 games; and WHEREAS, Tasmin was also named to the All-SEC First Team and on the NABC All-District Second Team in 2009; and WHEREAS, although not selected by an NBA franchise, Tasmin played professional basketball for the following teams: Erie Bayhawks, the Quebec Kabs Hapoel Holon, Triumph Lyubertsy, Maccabi Rishon LeZion, Champagne Chalons-Reims, and JSF Nanterre; and WHEREAS, head LSU basketball coach Will Wade named Tasmin as Director of Student-Athlete Development at Louisiana State University in 2017, and he was promoted in May 2019 to his current position as assistant men's basketball coach at Louisiana State University; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 111 ENROLLED WHEREAS, in recognition of his abilities and talents, Tasmin O. Mitchell was inducted into the 2022 Class of the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame on April 12, 2022. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Tasmin O. Mitchell on being inducted into the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame.
