SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 118
BY SENATOR FIELDS 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
passing of Glorious Williams Lofton.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana
learned of the death of Glorious W. Lofton on April 21, 2022, at the age of eighty-two; and
WHEREAS, Glorious, a native of Blairstown, Louisiana and a resident of Baton
Rouge, Louisiana, was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother
who loved spending time with her loved ones; and
WHEREAS, she is survived by two sons, Ronald T. Lofton (Melissa) of Niceville,
Florida, and Reverend John A. Lofton Jr.; ten grandchildren, Willie Baker, Krystal Jones,
Eldon and Omar Spears, Jeremi Glasper, Patience, Brandy, Paige, and Hayley Lofton, and
Eddie Lee Palmer III; fourteen great-grandchildren; three siblings, Edmond C. Williams,
Viola Collins, and Ora Williams; and
WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, John A.
Lofton Sr.; her parents; and a daughter, Gwendolyn Palmer; and
WHEREAS, although the death of Glorious W. Lofton, often described by her
friends and family as a virtuous woman who lived life well, has left a tremendous void, her
memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved such a
wonderful person.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Glorious
W. Lofton upon her passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Rev. John A. Lofton Jr.
