SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 122
BY SENATOR BERNARD 
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Montgomery High School Lady Tigers softball team on winning the 2022
Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 1A State Championship.
WHEREAS, the Montgomery High School Lady Tigers softball team made history
when they claimed the first ever state title for Montgomery High School; and 
WHEREAS, the Montgomery varsity softball team secured the 2022 Louisiana High
School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Class 1A State Championship title by defeating
district rival LaSalle High School 8-3 in the championship game held at North Frasch Park
in Sulphur, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, with a relatively young team having only two seniors and two junior
starters, the team grew up as the season progressed and won the 2022 District 3-1A
Championship; and 
WHEREAS, during the state playoffs, Montgomery pitcher Brighley Crayon had
seven strikeouts in two games and she earned Most Outstanding Player honors; and
WHEREAS, the Montgomery High School softball program is led by Coach Paige
Grayson who realized that this year's softball team was different after the team went 3-0 in
the Acadiana High softball tournament in March; and
WHEREAS, Montgomery finished the 2022 softball season with an impressive
record of thirty-three wins and only one loss; and
WHEREAS, the entire softball team is most deserving of the highest recognition for
their outstanding achievement this year.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the Montgomery Lady Tigers softball team on winning the 2022
Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 1A State Championship and does hereby
extend sincerest hopes for the team's continued success for many years to come.

Michael Edwards, principal of Montgomery High School.
