SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 124
BY SENATOR FIELDS
A RESOLUTION
To congratulate Maniquwa Montashay Holmes on graduating from McKinley Senior High
School of Baton Rouge and to commend her for her many leadership roles both in
school and in her community.
WHEREAS, graduating from high school is an important milestone in a student's life
that signifies success in academics and the achievement of one's goals; and
WHEREAS, graduating from high school is one of the most important indicators of
future success in life, including employment prospects, income potential, and overall health;
and
WHEREAS, Maniquwa Montashay Holmes is set to graduate from McKinley Senior
High School of Baton Rouge on May 17, 2022, and it is appropriate to recognize her for all
of her accomplishments throughout her high school career; and
WHEREAS, beyond her academic achievements, Maniquwa has been a leader in
both her school and community; and
WHEREAS, during her time at McKinley, Maniquwa served as Student Government
Association vice president, choir president, and battalion commander; and
WHEREAS, she has also served as drill commander for the Junior Reserve Officers'
Training Corps (JROTC) and was recently crowned Miss JROTC; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her duties at McKinley, Maniquwa was a member of
Lambda Eta Sigma Youth Sorority, and served as the sorority's president in 2020; and
WHEREAS, in 2021-2022, Maniquwa served as president of the Louisiana
Leadership Institute where she helped contribute to the institute's mission of building
leadership, improving academic skills, and increasing self-esteem and motivation in students
of the Greater Baton Rouge Metro area; and
WHEREAS, Maniquwa plans to attend Baton Rouge Community College in the Fall
as well as Baton Rouge General Medical School, where she will study sonography; and

WHEREAS, Maniquwa exemplifies all that it means to be a young leader and her
future holds incredible promise; and
WHEREAS, through her academic achievements and her involvement with the
Louisiana Leadership Institute, Maniquwa has formed a solid foundation which will serve
her well in her future endeavors.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Maniquwa Montashay Holmes on graduating from
McKinley Senior High School of Baton Rouge, and wishes her all the best in her future
endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Maniquwa Montashay Holmes.
