SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
A RESOLUTION
To recognize Tuesday, April 12, 2022, as Acadiana Red and White Day at the state capitol.
WHEREAS, community and economic development leaders understand the crucial
role of higher education institutions in improving economic competitiveness, workforce
development, and quality of life in their region and state; and
WHEREAS, the Acadiana Planning Commission, the Lafayette Airport Commission,
Lafayette Consolidated Government, the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission,
Lafayette Economic Development Authority, One Acadiana, and the UL Lafayette Alumni
Association are joining together to celebrate the momentous achievements of the University
of Louisiana at Lafayette; and
WHEREAS, the University recently earned the distinction of being designated by the
Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as a Research 1 (R1) institution,
a status held by only 146 higher education institutions, in the nation in recognition of its
purposeful research mission and global impact; and
WHEREAS, Acadiana is proud to be home to the University of Louisiana at
Lafayette.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize Tuesday, April 12, 2022, as Acadiana Red and White Day at the state
capitol, and proclaim the University of Louisiana at Lafayette an embodiment of academic
and research excellence and an engine for social good of which every Louisiana citizen can
be proud.
