SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 138
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate the students and faculty of the Lafayette Parish School
System for their placement of first-overall in the Louisiana Governor's Games' 25th
Annual Elementary State Championship Fitness Meet.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Governor's Games are the state's premier amateur
sporting event; and
WHEREAS, the Lafayette Parish School System finished first-overall in the 25th
Annual Elementary State Championship Fitness Meet; and
WHEREAS, to place first, Lafayette Parish finished with 2,422 points compared to
second-place Caddo Parish with 2,338 points, and third-place Evangeline Parish with 2,296
points; and
WHEREAS, the elementary fitness meet competition involves seven fitness-related
events, including the 50-yard dash, the shuttle run, pull-ups, the standing long-jump, curl-ups
or sit-ups, the 600-yard run, and the V-sit and reach; and
WHEREAS, the top two boys and girls from each parish travel to Baton Rouge
annually to compete for the fitness title; and
WHEREAS, Lafayette Parish's top performer, Eli Bonnie, led the way with 652
individual points; and
WHEREAS, Eli's teammates Landon Moran, Emma Claire Hargrave, and Addison
Arnaud anchored their parish to victory; and
WHEREAS, since 1997, the elementary fitness meet has served as the Olympic
Games for elementary school-aged children in thirty parishes across the state, with more than
200,000 student competing for the state fitness crown.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend a warm welcome to the members, coaches, and parents of the members
of the Lafayette Parish School System's Elementary State Championship Fitness Meet team,
and does commend and congratulate them on this amazing achievement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Lafayette Parish School Board.
