SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 183

A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of
Louisiana upon the death of Edward Eugene Wilcox Sr.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret that the members of the Senate of the Legislature
of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Edward Eugene Wilcox Sr. at the age of
ninety-three; and
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of DeQuincy, Louisiana, Edward was born on
October 13, 1928, and passed from his earthly home on May 24, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Edward served his country in the National Guard where he was an
expert sharpshooter and participated in National Matches all over the United States, serving
most of his time at Camp Perry; and
WHEREAS, Edward was a successful business owner, operating the A&W/Wilcox's
Restaurant for thirty-six years and Wilcox's Washateria for forty years; and
WHEREAS, Edward enjoyed his family, cows, shooting, hunting, and reminiscing
about the good days in DeQuincy and at the A&W; and
WHEREAS, Edward was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and
friend who leaves a rich and unique legacy of good works for his family, community, and
state; and
WHEREAS, Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucille Banken
Wilcox, his parents Ed and Alice Wilcox, and seven siblings; and
WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his three children Edward Eugene "Gene"
Wilcox Jr. and wife, Betty; Timothy John "Tim" Wilcox and wife, Misty; Ella Denise
Wilcox Maddox and husband, James; eight grandchildren, Becky, Trey, Miranda, Candice,
Brittany, T.J., Staci, and Caleb, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild;
and

WHEREAS, the death of Edward Eugene Wilcox Sr. has left an abiding void in the
legions of people whose lives he graciously touched and he will be truly missed by those
with whom he shared his life.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend the sincerest condolences on the death of Edward Eugene Wilcox Sr.,
does hereby express heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends, and does hereby express
best thoughts and prayers for comfort and peace in this time of sorrow and hopes for fond
and lasting memories.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Edward Eugene Wilcox Sr.
