SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 189
BY SENATOR WOMACK AND REPRESENTATI VES FIRMENT AND RISER 
A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ on the formation of
the national organization.
WHEREAS, in March 1952, a large gathering of Pentecostal/Apostolic Pastors
gathered at Urania, Louisiana, to form a national organization for preaching the gospel of
the Lord Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, it was a great success and called the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus
Christ; and
WHEREAS, the national headquarters is located in Memphis, Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, the district superintendent for the Louisiana District is Reverend David
Poole; and
WHEREAS, today the organization has locations world-wide, having a vision of
Christian fellowship that glorifies God through worship, teaching His word, and ministering
to the community; and
WHEREAS, a youth camp was held annually at the Urania Pentecostal Church
between 1952 and 1963; and
WHEREAS, the youth camp has been held in Olla, Louisiana, since 1963, and the
leaders hope to have influenced many young lives through the years; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana district provides ministry to people throughout the world
through mission trips, summer camps, and outreach ministry; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana district has a foreign mission, with thirty missionaries
stationed world-wide and a home mission, called Missions America, to share God's word
with those unreached areas of the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana district has thirty-five functioning churches and sixty
licensed ministers; and

WHEREAS, throughout its history, thanks to dedicated reverends and hard working
and devoted members, the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ has refused to be deterred by
the hardships and adversity that often confront the faithful, and to this day signals its
intention to serve uninterruptedly as an inspirational and spiritual center of the community
for years to come.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ on uplifting
communities, congregations, and people to do God's work, and become great citizens of the
state of Louisiana and the United States of America for seventy wonderful years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Pastor Bob Nash, Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ.
