2022 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 194 BY SENATOR CATHEY A RESOLUTION To urge and request the city of Baton Rouge to designate golf cart accessibility lanes in certain areas of downtown Baton Rouge. WHEREAS, golf carts have become very popular for use on public roads; and WHEREAS, golf carts are now being operated in well-planned and gated environments as well as on local roadways to cover short distances; and WHEREAS, golf carts are considered a low speed vehicle with an acceleration of approximately twenty-five miles per hour; and WHEREAS, the city of Baton Rouge has shown a commitment to building a pedestrian and bicycling safety infrastructure through comprehensive plans, roads, and policies; and WHEREAS, downtown Baton Rouge could be less congested and easily traveled without the vast majority of standard motor vehicles parked on the streets daily. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the city of Baton Rouge to study the feasibility of implementing golf cart designated lanes from North Street to River Road to the State Capitol, for ease of access in the downtown Baton Rouge area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED a copy of this Resolution be sent to the mayor-president of the city of Baton Rouge. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE Page 1 of 1
