HOUSE BILL NO. 223
BY REPRESENTATIVE BROWN
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:4569.1(B)(2), relative to Iberville Parish;  to provide relative
3 to the Iberville Parish Parks and Recreation District; to provide relative to the
4 employees of the district; to provide relative to the powers granted to the governing
5 authority of Iberville Parish with respect to such employees; and to provide for
6 related matters.
7	Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
8	as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
9	Louisiana.
10 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
11 Section 1.  R.S. 33:4569.1(B)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
12 ยง4569.1.  Board of commissioners; membership; officers; compensation; personnel

16	(2)(a)  The board may appoint, employ, and fix the salary of a full-time
17 director of parks and recreation who shall have such duties and responsibilities as
18 may be determined by the board, and may also employ and fix the salaries, duties,
19 and responsibilities of an assistant director and such additional staff as necessary to
20 operate park and recreational facilities and programs.
21	(b)(i)  Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the
22 employees of the district shall become employees of the parish of Iberville upon the

1 adoption of an ordinance by the governing authority of the parish of Iberville.  The
2 ordinance shall provide that any such employee shall be subject to the same
3 administrative rules and regulations as other parish employees and shall be eligible
4 to receive compensation and benefits as provided for other parish employees.
5	(ii)  The provisions of Item (i) of this Subparagraph shall not be construed to
6 require the parish of Iberville to reduce the compensation or benefits of any
7 employee who was formerly employed by the district.
8	(iii)  Any parish employee may provide services to, or on behalf of, the
9 district pursuant to an intergovernmental agreement between the parish of Iberville
10 and the district.
