ENERGY/CONSERVATI ON: Prohibits carbon dioxide sequestration projects in St. Helena
Parish
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 30:1112, relative to carbon dioxide sequestration in St. Helena parish; to
3 prohibit the permitting of carbon dioxide sequestration in St. Helena parish; and to
4 provide for related matters.
5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published as
6 provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
7 Louisiana.
8Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1. R.S. 30:1112 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
10 ยง1112. Carbon dioxide sequestration; St. Helena Parish
11 The commissioner shall not permit any activity related to carbon dioxide
12 sequestration in St. Helena Parish.

Abstract: Prohibits any activity related to carbon dioxide sequestration in St. Helena
Parish.
Present law gives the commissioner of conservation jurisdiction and authority over the
geologic storage and sequestration of carbon dioxide.
Proposed law prohibits the commissioner from allowing any activity in St. Helena Parish
related to carbon sequestration.
