WATER/DRINKING WATER: Provides relative to drinking water providers
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 33:3839, relative to drinking water providers; to prohibit providers from
3 denying certain requests for water service; to provide for exceptions; and to provide
4 for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 33:3839 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง3839. Requirement to provide service
8 No political subdivision or cooperative owned by water users that provides
9 drinking water to customers shall deny a request for water service to a properly
10 permitted residential or commercial structure that is located within the provider's
11 service area. This Section does not prohibit a provider from shutting off service to
12 an individual customer for failing to pay service charges or other just cause.
