Abstract:  Requires that the membership of the LSU and Southern University boards of supervisors
include certain alumni.
Present constitution, relative to the boards of supervisors of La. State University and Southern
University, provides that each board consists of 15 members, two from each congressional district
and the remaining member or members from the state at large, all appointed by the governor.
Proposed constitutional amendment retains present constitution except to provide that at least one
alumnus from each of the following institutions be appointed to the La. State University board of
supervisors:
(1)La. State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College.
(2)La. State University at Alexandria.
(3)La. State University at Eunice.
(4)La. State University at Shreveport.
Provides that at least one alumnus from each of the following institutions be appointed to the
Southern University board of supervisors:
(1)Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College.
(2)Southern University at New Orleans.
(3)Southern University at Shreveport.
Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held
Oct. 14, 2023.
