SEAFOOD:  Provides relative to penalties for misrepresentation to the public by restaurants
that sell certain imported seafood
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 40:5.5.4(C), relative to the enforcement of notice requirement
3 for imported crawfish and shrimp; to require a civil fine for violation of notice
4 requirement; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 40:5.5.4(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง5.5.4.  Imported crawfish and shrimp; notice to patrons of food service
8	establishments required

10	C.(1)  Any violation of this Section shall constitute a violation of the state
11 sanitary code.
12	(2)  In instances where an inspection discloses a violation, the business entity
13 or person deemed to be responsible shall be given an opportunity to correct the noted
14 deficiency, and if upon reinspection, the premises are found to be still in need of
15 correction of the previously cited violation, the business entity or person deemed to
16 be responsible shall be subject to a civil fine of not more than one hundred dollars.

Abstract:  Provides for a civil fine for violation of notice requirement for imported crawfish
and shrimp.
Present law requires all food service establishments that use a menu as a standard business
practice and sell or provide cooked or prepared crawfish or shrimp that originate outside of
the U.S. to disclose such crawfish or shrimp on menus and signs. Present law further
provides the notice requirements for menus and signs. 
Proposed law provides for a civil fine of not more than $100 in certain instances of a
violation of the notice requirement upon inspection of the business.
