RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 385 (HB 660) 2023 Regular Session Stagni Existing law permits an individual who is a qualified retired law enforcement officer to carry a concealed firearm anywhere in the state, including any place open to the public, if he meets certain eligibility criteria. Existing law requires a qualified retired law enforcement officer to qualify annually to obtain certification from the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) and to provide proof of such certification. New law adds a retired officer who is properly certified by the P.O.S.T. Council at the time of retirement as an alternative requirement to existing law. New law provides that an individual who is retired from service as a qualified law enforcement officer shall not be permitted the ability to carry a concealed firearm in another state without proper qualification under the provisions of existing law.
