BY REPRESENTATIVES STAGNI, BACALA, EDMONSTON, GAROFALO, HORTON,
KNOX, LAFLEUR, MARCELLE, AND SEABAUGH
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1379.1.4(B)(5) and to enact R.S. 40:1379.1.4(E), relative to
3 the carrying of concealed weapons by qualified retired law enforcement officers; to
4 provide relative to annual qualification; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 40:1379.1.4(B)(5) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.
7 40:1379.1.4(E) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง1379.1.4.  Carrying of concealed firearms by qualified retired law enforcement
9	officers

11	B.  As used in this Section, the term "qualified retired law enforcement
12 officer" means an individual who meets all of the following:

14	(5)  Qualifies annually in the use of firearms by the Peace Officer Standards
15 and Training Council and has proof of such certification or was properly certified by
16 the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training at the time of retirement, in
17 accordance with R.S. 40:1379.3(D)(1)(f).

1	E.  The provisions of this Section shall not permit an individual who is retired
2 from service as a qualified law enforcement officer the ability to carry a concealed
3 firearm in another state without proper qualification under the provisions of 18
4 U.S.C. 926C.
