ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 25 BY REPRESENTATIVE SELDERS A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Louisiana State University student Kenedi Lynch on being named a Goldwater Scholar. WHEREAS, Congress established the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program in 1986 to honor Senator Barry M. Goldwater; Senator Goldwater served his country for fifty-six years as both a soldier and statesman, including thirty years as a United States Senator; and WHEREAS, the program's purpose is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in those fields; and WHEREAS, Kenedi Lynch is a Stamps Scholar and Roger H. Ogden Honors College student at Louisiana State University who studies biological sciences with a minor in psychology; she intends to pursue medical and doctoral degrees so that she can work as a clinical researcher; and WHEREAS, Ms. Lynch was previously selected to participate in the Amgen Scholars Program, which allows undergraduates from across the globe to participate in cutting-edge research opportunities at world-class institutions; and WHEREAS, Ms. Lynch conducted research in a neuroendocrinology and behavior laboratory, and in conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, she investigated haemosporidian (avian malarial) parasites and their effect on the state's turkey population; she also conducted a pilot study about neurogenesis in the brain; and WHEREAS, Kenedi Lynch's incredible academic accomplishments and research efforts have earned her national recognition and selection as a Goldwater Scholar; she is most deserving of the highest recognition for her astounding achievements. Page 1 of 2 HCR NO. 25 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Louisiana State University student Kenedi Lynch on being named a Goldwater Scholar and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she continue to prosper in her pursuit to improve health outcomes in the state of Louisiana.
