HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 35

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend James Hendrix on being named 2023 Conservation Systems Soybean and Corn
Researcher of the Year.
WHEREAS, James Hendrix is Louisiana State University (LSU) AgCenter's
conservation agronomist for the Northeast Region; he began his career as a 4-H youth
development agent with the LSU AgCenter and has been a lifelong proponent of the positive
coexistence of agriculture and the environment; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hendrix credits his work with LSU AgCenter and other land-grant
scientists to modify historical practices and develop new ones as the inspiration behind his
drive to educate youth and adults on the ways improved agricultural practices benefit the
environment; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hendrix has also served as a watershed agent with the Louisiana
Master Farmer Program; his work, combined with his research as a conservation agronomist,
has seen him spend numerous hours teaching in primary and secondary school classrooms,
environmental camps and workshops, research and demonstration sites, and conferences for
producers and owners; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hendrix's research has been incredibly beneficial to Louisiana
producers, especially those in the northeast region of the state; he does conservation research
on cover crops and tillage and the Northeast Research Station and is involved in other
conservation projects in the region; and
WHEREAS, James Hendrix was presented with his award at the 2023 National
Conservation Systems Cotton and Rice Conference held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; he is
most deserving of the highest recognition for his incredible dedication to improving
Louisiana's agricultural practices.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend James Hendrix on being named 2023 Conservation Systems Soybean and Corn
Researcher of the Year and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he continue to prosper
in all of his personal and professional endeavors.
