HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 61
BY REPRESENTATIVE DEVILLIER AND SENATOR HENSGENS
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Church Point High School boys' powerlifting team on winning the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division III state championship.
WHEREAS, the Church Point High School Bears powerlifting team captured the
2023 Division III state title and two individual state titles during the Louisiana High School
Athletic Association powerlifting state meet held at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana,
on March 25, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the victory gives the Bears powerlifting program its ninth state
championship under Head Coach Eddie Bergeron and marks its first title since 2019; and
WHEREAS, Church Point's individual state champions were Damarion Guy, in the
220-pound weight class, and Wyatt Daigle, in the 242-pound weight class; the Bears also
had one lifter finish in second-place and three lifters finished in third-place; and
WHEREAS, all of the members of the Church Point boys' powerlifting team are most
deserving of the highest recognition for their incredible accomplishments throughout the
2023 season.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Church Point High School boys' powerlifting team on winning the Louisiana
High School Athletic Association 2023 Division III state championship and does hereby
extend sincerest wishes that the team continue its excellent work and always strive for
greatness.
