HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 108

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Oakdale High School Lady Warriors basketball team on winning the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division IV Non-Select state
championship.
WHEREAS, the Oakdale High School Lady Warriors captured the 2023 Division IV
Non-Select state title by defeating the Lakeview High School Lady Gators, 53-48, in the
championship game at Southeastern Louisiana University Center in Hammond, Louisiana;
and
WHEREAS, Oakdale Head Coach Renotta Edwards and the Lady Warriors exceeded
all expectations as the ninth-seeded team, making an improbable playoff run to reach the
program's first ever state championship game; sophomore Emani Young earned Most
Outstanding Player honors after scoring seventeen points, grabbing four steals, and blocking
three shots in the championship game; and
WHEREAS, the Oakdale High School Lady Warriors basketball team is led by Head
Coach Renotta Edwards, Assistant Coach Tori Bordelon, and Assistant Coach Jennifer
Green; the members of the team are Marlee Hart, Akeelah Hobson, Amiya White, Emani
Young, Nariah Williams, Kaylee Bradley, Maliyah Spires, Lundin Jack, Kennedi Jackson,
Zandria Trudell, Aldyn Hebert, Carnellia Reid, Ainslee Willis, and Bryleigh Willis; and
WHEREAS, the 2023 Oakdale High School Lady Warriors basketball team is most
deserving of the highest recognition for capturing the program's first-ever state title.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Oakdale High School Lady Warriors
basketball team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division
IV Non-Select state championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the team's
players, coaches, and training staff continue their incredible work and always strive for
greatness.
