HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 11
BY REPRESENTATIVE HUGHES
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Lolita Althea
Perez Dufauchard.
WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of
Representatives has learned of the passing, on April 3, 2023, of Lolita Althea Perez
Dufauchard; and
WHEREAS, Lolita Althea Perez was born on November 19, 1931, to Hernandez and
Leonora Duplessis Perez; she was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and graduated from
Xavier University Preparatory High School, where she received the Class of 1950
Scholarship Award; after graduating, she attended Xavier University in New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, Lolita cherished her family above all other things in life; she was united
in holy matrimony to Alvin Charles Dufauchard on December 31, 1951, and shared fifty-six
years of life together; they had two loving children, Al and Sharon, whom they adored; and
WHEREAS, Lolita was an incredibly determined mother who prioritized her
children's well-being and future at every opportunity; she worked to afford her children the
opportunity to attend college; she held numerous occupations throughout her career, working
for Bunk's Factory, the United States Postal Service, the Department of Agriculture, and the
Veterans Administration Hospital, and was a dedicated and dependable employee until her
retirement in 1991; and
WHEREAS, following her retirement, Ms. Dufauchard was finally able to find time
to truly enjoy and appreciate her family and friends; she began regularly hosting and
attending family gatherings, playing Pokeno, traveling, going to the casino, completing
jigsaw puzzles, and eating sweets; her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her
grandchildren and great-granddaughter; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Dufauchard was a kind, loving, and soft-spoken woman who never
had a negative thing to say about anyone; she leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her
children, Alvin Charles Dufauchard, Jr., and Sharon Dufauchard White; son-in-law, George
White; daughter-in-law, Janeice Chambers; grandchildren, Tiffany White, Gerren White, and
Erin Dufauchard Hazley, and her husband Kirk; great-granddaughter, Teagan Hazley;
brother, Hernandez Perez; sister, Manuella Fancher; sisters-in-law, Bernice Brown, Ruby
Dufauchard, and Elizabeth Quinn; "bonus" grandson, Jason Wynne Hughes; special sister-
friends, Theresa Gonzales, Rose LaBeaud, and Shirley Scieneaux; and a host of extended
family and friends; she will be deeply missed, but certainly never forgotten.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Lolita
Althea Perez Dufauchard and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that her family, friends,
and loved ones find comfort and joy in their shared memories of her beautiful life.
