ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 175 BY REPRESENTATIVE LACOMBE A RESOLUTION To commend Jacob Sam Eaves on his acceptance to the United States Naval Academy. WHEREAS, Jacob Sam Eaves is a 2023 graduate of Catholic High of Pointe Coupee in New Roads, Louisiana; he is the valedictorian of his class and finished his high school career with an unweighted 4.0 GPA and weighted 4.12 GPA; his academic achievements also include completing several dual enrollment courses, membership in the National Society of High School Scholars, and scoring a 31 on the ACT; and WHEREAS, Jacob's achievements extend far beyond the classroom; he was a member of his school's varsity teams in powerlifting, soccer, track and field, Esports, and swimming; he is particularly accomplished in powerlifting, winning a 2023 state championship, setting a state lifting record, placing in multiple meets, and winning his team's coach's award; he was also a member of the All-Academic Composite Teams in both powerlifting and track and field; and WHEREAS, Jacob is a proven leader who consistently displays a remarkable degree of maturity and initiative; he served as student council president during his sophomore and junior years of high school and as vice president during his senior year; he was a founding member and captain of the Catholic High of Pointe Coupee Esports team and president of the school's Beta Club, Culture Club, and Music Club; he participated in the Pointe Coupee Young Leaders program and the Louisiana State University Ag Leadership Program; and WHEREAS, Jacob has received countless awards and honors for his many achievements, including placing first in the Diocese of Baton Rouge and third in the state of Louisiana during the Knights of Columbus Catholic Youth Leadership competition and winning the United States Naval Science Award, Broadcom Masters Award, Golden Hornet Award, and many more; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 175 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Jacob is a truly humble community servant who has volunteered at the Louisiana War Veterans Home, the Baton Rouge Food Bank, the Sons of the American Legion, and the Harvest Festival; he also served as a civil air patrol cadet and classmate tutor and participated in the 4-H Leadership Challenge Camp; and WHEREAS, Jacob is the son of Jason Scott Eaves and Christy Eaves and brother of Anna Jean Eaves; his grandparents are Sam and Gloria Eaves and Larry and Stephanie Jean Dobson; and WHEREAS, Jacob Sam Eaves recently received an Offer of Appointment from both the United States Naval Academy and the United States Air Force Academy; he has chosen to attend the Naval Academy, and he is most deserving of the highest recognition for his truly astonishing accomplishments and for bringing immense pride to the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Jacob Sam Eaves on his acceptance to the United States Naval Academy and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he continue to prosper in all of his endeavors as he serves his country with pride and honor.
