HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 18

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Trinity Episcopal School Youth Legislature.
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize the Trinity Episcopal School in New
Orleans and to commend the school's Youth Legislature program; and
WHEREAS, the Trinity Episcopal School Youth Legislature is a program designed
for middle school students which aims to familiarize them with the legislative process;
through the program, students have the opportunity to spend two days in the Old State
Capitol, and they are also encouraged to develop their leadership skills and work together
with their peers; and
WHEREAS, the Youth Legislature program also provides students with an
opportunity to gain confidence and the self-assurance needed to become school leaders now
and community leaders in their adult lives; and
WHEREAS, the members and roles of Trinity Episcopal School's 2023 Youth
Legislature include Beau Dirks, candidate for governor; Katherine Aucoin, candidate for
Senate president; and Ashton de Laureal, candidate for House speaker; students serving as
bill sponsors are Mary Frances Baldwin, Ariana Bazan, TJ Green, Clyde Kolb, Isabel
Messersmith, Madeleine Mondrinos, Quinn Ogg, Ryan Plunkett, Ann Schonberg, Thomas
Smallpage, and Rhys Tyrrell; bill co-sponsors are Evelyn deMeyers, Ellie Kolb, Soren
Loomis, Zoe McCall, Amelie Perkin, Tanner Robert, Mia Roberson, Holden Roubion, Reily
Roubion, George Tournillon, and Lennon Wright; additionally, Kate Raymond serves as the
photo journalist, and James Thayer and Wells Tucker serve as press delegates; and
WHEREAS, the Trinity Episcopal School Youth Legislature program is truly
impressive, and the students and faculty involved in its activities are deserving of
recognition.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Trinity Episcopal School Youth
Legislature and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the example set by the members
of the 2023 Trinity Episcopal School Youth Legislature serves to inspire more students to
become involved with public service.
